Want to Stop Smoking and don’t know how?

Imagine using Hypnosis so you’ll stop smoking while you are living your life and losing “the craving” because the changes are happening at a much deeper level then just your will power. Once you lose “the craving” it only takes 72 hours (3 days) to get rid of the physical addiction to the nicotine. All you need to do before you stop is to ask for help and commit yourself to achieving it!
By using Hypnosis you will be able create the new neurotransmitters in your brain that will help you to more easily go back to being a non-smoker. Remember, you were a non-smoker when you were born and your subconscious mind is aware of that. You became a smoker when you learned how to smoke. Your mind just needs to be reminded about being able to live your life again without having to think that you want/or need to continue to breath smoke in and out of your lungs and not having to use cigarettes to cope with the difficult things in your life.
The following list is a reminder of some of the consequences of continuing to smoke:
- Emphysema
- Cancer
- High-Blood Pressure
- Heart Problems
- Gum Disease
- Breathing Problems
- Bronchial Congestion
- Chronic Cough
Breathing Therapy, used as an adjunct with the Hypnosis, can be very beneficial too in helping you to stop smoking as it will oxygenate your whole body. It is a reminder too that it’s the breathing that helps you relax – it’s not the smoking. You can try it right now: Breath in deeply and breath out completely and you will feel relaxed. Try it again and this time be more present in your physical body - Inhale as if you were smoking and exhale. Continue to do it and again ask yourself what is really relaxing you – the breathing or the smoking - I’ll bet you that you’ll know the difference. It’s the process of breathing that relaxes you!
Nicotine is a stimulant, so inhaling smoke inside your lungs cannot be relaxing. You can do it again – light up your cigarette and start inhaling the smoke and then be aware of the nicotine entering your body. Now tell me – what’s the relaxing part of smoking? So again just take a nice deep breath, breathing in deeply and breathing out completely. One more time tell me – what’s not relaxing about breathing!?!
So make up your mind and stop intoxicating, debilitating and destroying your body while you are making the Tobacco Co’s rich. Do you know what smoking is costing you? If you are smoking a pack a day @ $4 p/day in 1 month you spent $120, in 1 year it’s $1,440 and in 10 years it’s $14,400 of your money that you have given to the Tobacco Co’s and probably just to make you sick or kill you. I bet you that right now you are thinking of different ways you could have spent those $14,400. If you stop smoking now you could still be in time to turn your life around and be healthier.
If it’s that repetitive thought what’s not letting you stop smoking, then it’s not the addiction to cigarettes. It’s the addiction to that repetitive thought, that obsessive thought, so you need to deal with that behavior and everything else will follow suit. Remember, the physical addiction to nicotine, after you stop takes only 72 hours to be out of your system. What you will really be dealing with it’s “the craving” in your mind or that repetitive obsessive thought. So I will remind you again – Hypnosis can help you get rid of the craving and get rid of that repetitive thought while you are living your life at a much deeper level then just will power. Bottom line, it’ll be much easier for you to stop the learned habit of smoking.
As I was tweeting some of this information the other day, one of my followers from abroad was amazed at the price of cigarettes in the USA as he mentioned it costs them around $20 per pack, that means $20 x 7 = $140 a week so it’s $560 a month that becomes $6,720 a year! So in 10 years this person has spent the amazing amount of $67, 200 in cigarettes!
Some people are able to stop smoking in the first Hypnosis session. As a Hypnotherapist I advise my potential clients to at least do 2 to 3 more sessions to reinforce that newly acquired behavior. I remind my potential clients too that we are not a behavior, so that means that if you truly commit yourself to stop smoking, you will achieve it. That’s right, if you believe it, it will happen.
I used to smoke and stopped years ago “cold turkey” because at that time I didn’t know anything about Hypnosis. When I look back I have to agree that it was one of the best things I have done in my life. Instead I started exercising and became a runner and ran 10 Marathons and finished all of them. I was amazed at how my body and my lungs healed as I became a non-smoker again. My taste buds came back and I could taste food again. Some of you may think that probably I put lots of weight on and you are wrong. I gained only 6 lbs. that I lost in the first 6 months after I became a non-smoker.
Definitely in life we have choices and in the choices that we make sooner or later we will have to face the consequences – you can be healthier in your late years or you can be sick. I chose to be healthier and yes, that was my choice.

All About Bruxism (Teeth Grinding) and TMJ
April 7, 2010
“Bruxism” is the medical term for teeth grinding or teeth clenching, It is often experienced at night and in some more severe cases during the day too – so grinding your teeth is known as “bruxing”. Other related symptoms are jaw clenching or clamping, snoring and teeth grinding. Sometimes it can be related to sleep apnea too.
Teeth grinding responds very well to being treated with Hypnosis. Although you may not be sure exactly what is causing your teeth to grind, one thing is certain – somewhere in your Subconscious mind a signal is being sent instructing your teeth to grind and/or your jaw to clench. Hypnosis can be useful by implanting a suggestion into the Subconscious mind to simply stop grinding your teeth.
The main problem of grinding your teeth is that it can wear down your own teeth. It can keep you awake at night, it can cause jaw muscle pain and damage - and even worse - cause TMJ that stands for Temporomandibular Joint Disorder that could actually be the cause of teeth grinding in the first place. Although Hypnosis can be useful, teeth grinding could be the symptom of something more serious. My advice is to immediately get checked. I am listing some underlying causes and symptoms of teeth grinding so if any of them might sound familiar, investigate deeper and check with your Doctor or Dentist for an accurate medical diagnose.
Causes of Teeth Grinding:
Temporomandibular Joint Disorder affects many people and can get worse if not treated. Basically the Temporomandibular Joint connects your lower jaw to your skull, so you have two of those joints – one on each side. The range of problems that it can cause are:
- Misalignment
- Injuries to the jaw area
- Various forms of arthritis
- Dental procedures
- High and Low-level infections
- Auto-immune diseases
- Stretching of the jaw
- Clenching or grinding of the teeth (as mentioned before)
Other cause could be internalized Anger – an emotion of unhappiness and frustration with a particular situation that you are unable to control. Our instinctive or primitive way to respond to anger would be with aggression, but in today’s “advanced” society that is not an option. Instead we are expected to control our anger “appropriately” so we tend to internalize it – bottle it up. These can lead to not only high blood pressure and depression, it can cause teeth grinding in some cases. Beneficial methods of dealing with anger in a more positive way can be Hypnotherapy for acquiring a more effective self-expression, assertiveness and relaxations techniques to promote internal calmness.
Stress can impact just about anything related to your health and well being. If you have too much stress in your life – and most of us do - you should immediately take steps to learn how to manage it. There are many different ways – again Hypnosis, exercise, or medication.
Mineral and Vitamin deficiencies can in certain situations lead to teeth grinding – that uncontrolled motor activity. In such a case Pantothenic acid can be of help as it is an anti-stress vitamin that can help by reducing the production of hormones stimulating your Adrenal Glands. Calcium deficiency can lead to muscle cramps and involuntary movement of the teeth and leg cramps and teeth grinding could be a symptom of magnesium deficiency.
Other causes which have been reported to cause teeth grinding are:
- Malocclusion: Abnormal alignment of upper and lower teeth
- Aggressive, competitive or hyperactive disorder (ADHD)
- Huntington’s or Parkinson’s disease.
- Teeth grinding can also be an uncommon side effect of some Psychiatric medications including antidepressants.
The symptoms of TMJ are many:
- Pain and discomfort
- Clocking of the jaw when attempting to open the mouth
- Inability to open the mouth comfortably
- Clicking, popping or grating sounds in the jaw joint
- Headaches
- An uncomfortable or “off ” bite
- Neck, shoulder and back pain
- Swelling on the side of the face
All these symptoms and causes cross over several Medical Disciplines and it’s not easy to get a true diagnose and treatment.
Some effective approaches are:
- Hypnosis/Hypnotherapy (Imagery, Relaxation Techniques and Self-hypnosis)
- A mouth guard that corrects alignment and prevents teeth grinding
- Medication
- Yoga and Meditation
- Botulinum toxin (Botox) injections may help some people with severe bruxism that have not responded to other treatments.

WHY HYPNOSIS…
April 1, 2010
![]()
Hypnosis comes from the Greek Word Hypno = Deep Sleep
Hypnosis is a tool we use to access the subconscious part of our mind. The subconscious is the root or source of our behaviors, emotions, attitudes, imagination, intuition and motivation. It regulates our autonomic body functions – the part of us that dreams and our ability to access the super-conscious. It is the core of how we experience ourselves and interpret the rest of the world. With hypnosis, we are able to reach the subconscious mind to create change in our life.
Hypnosis is a highly focused state of attention and awareness and we use relaxation suggestions to create the hypnotic trance. It improves concentration and it’s the most powerful way to change your thinking and behaviors by eliminating blocks and limiting beliefs. With hypnosis, change happens with the use of therapeutic suggestions, post-hypnotic suggestions and anchoring. Having a specific goal to create and change behaviors is very important, so that you can suspend disbelief and eliminate blocks. The function of the hypnotic inductions given by the Hypnotherapist is to enhance responsiveness to suggestions. When the hypnotic state is achieved the client/patient will be able to respond more readily to the therapeutic suggestions.
As a result of how we were conditioned as we were growing up, we have repetitious and predictable responses (learned behaviors, patterns, and habits) acquired through our primary caretakers and the stimuli learned through our environment. As adults, our reactions are automatically triggered by the experiences with people and circumstances that we encounter through our day-to-day living; unfortunately, throughout all this, we forget that we have choices. We are connected to our triggers, which unleash behaviors that are either positive or negative, and we seem to be more connected to the negative behaviors than the positive ones. After awhile, we berate ourselves with criticism and self-doubt – “shoulda, woulda, coulda.” We don’t realize that we are making choices, maybe the wrong choices, because we are acting upon our subconscious behaviors, what our subconscious mind knows – how we were conditioned. Being able to step back for a moment and witness the choices that you make is very important, so that each and every time you make a choice, you can ask yourself whether there will be consequences for that choice, or if it’s going to result in happiness.
Hypnosis is an altered state of awareness and increased suggestibility. During hypnosis, the brain seems to temporarily suspend its attempt to authenticate incoming sensory information. Subjects in hypnosis are deeply relaxed and able to carry out instructions through visualizations or imagining situations suggested by the Hypnotherapist.
Hypnosis facilitates health by releasing stress and increases the relaxation response enhancing beneficial immune responses so that patients have fewer complications and require significantly less medication. It is a very valuable tool to overcome many problems. Convincing evidence has been gathered since the 1980s confirming how powerful medical hypnosis is in treating medical conditions by reducing anxiety, fears, along with increased comfort, faster healing. In addition, it creates more stability in the body’s functions that are controlled by the autonomic nervous system, an example being blood pressure. Hypnosis as an adjunct therapy to conventional treatments has been proven to be less expensive, less time-consuming and safe in helping with medical diagnoses and use of medication. The biological impact of hypnosis is very real and can now be quantified by science.
Hypnosis was approved by the American Medical Association as an “ethical medical treatment” in 1958. Many health plans have started to cover the cost of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM). Many HMOs are already covering Hypnotherapy if it is used in conjunction with psychotherapy or medical treatments. Hypnosis is an effective intervention for alleviating pain with cancer and other chronic pain conditions by using the relaxation techniques and can be classified as a well-established treatment. It has been of significant help in reducing anxiety for patients with pain and other debilitating illnesses that are constantly subjected to invasive procedures.
